Plated Jewelry 

The majority of our jewelry is 14k gold or rhodium plated with a base metal of brass. While our products are designed to be water-resistant, we recommend the following:

• Even jewelry needs a night off: Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place. A jewelry box is a great way to keep out dirt, dust, and humidity.
• Stay dry: Sweat, pools, sunscreen, hair products, and even makeup may affect your jewelry. To prolong the life of your Ana Luisa pieces, we suggest avoiding consistent contact with any lotions, perfumes, or similar products. 
• Keep it clean: A dry, microfiber polishing cloth will keep your pieces shining. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners or abrasive soaps.

Gold Vermeil

A key difference between our gold vermeil and gold plated jewelry is the metal base. Gold vermeil always has a sterling silver base. Sterling silver is a high-quality alloy made with 92.5% sure and 7.5% other metals (typically a combination of copper and other alloys). We plate the sterling silver with a thick layer of 14k gold, which makes it durable.

While our products are designed to be water-resistant, we recommend the following:

• Even jewelry needs a night off: The plating on vermeil may fade with time and frequent wear, especially on rings and bracelets. Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place when you're not wearing it.
• Stay dry: Sweat, pools, sunscreen, hair products, and even makeup may affect your jewelry. To prolong the life of your Ana Luisa pieces, we suggest avoiding consistent contact with any lotions, perfumes, or similar products. 
• Clean it gently: A microfiber cloth will remove traces of oil, smudges, or dirt on the surface of the jewelry. For a deeper clean, mix up a solution lukewarm water and a drop of mild (phosphate-free) dish soap, and lightly wipe the jewelry. Rinse with clean water and pat with a dry cloth. Do not scrub the surface of the jewelry or soak it in the solution for extended periods of time. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners or abrasive soaps.
• Work with a professional: Jewelers who specialize in vermeil may be able to re-plate your jewelry. Ana Luisa does not offer these services, and is not responsible for any outcomes from re-plating.

Solid Gold Jewelry

The 10k gold we use for our products is extremely durable. Even so, the finest metals can be affected by the elements and require gentle care to last a lifetime. When you're not wearing your solid gold jewelry, we recommend storing it in a cool, dry place. You can use a soft polishing cloth, or a combination of dish soap and warm water (small amounts of each) to help remove dirt and oil that can build up with regular wear. A professional jeweler can also provide a restorative cleaning to take things to the next level. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.

Permanent Jewelry

Our permanent bracelets and anklets are made with 10k Solid Gold and Sterling Silver chains. We offer these bracelets in a variety of chain types.

Any discoloring on the chain from the welding process will naturally wash away over time (in the shower, washing hands, regular wear, etc.). If your Solid Gold jewelry begins to lose its initial high polish, use a polishing cloth to restore its shine. If you feel like you need to take your jewelry care to the next level, you can use gentle dish soap and a baby toothbrush to softly and carefully clean your jewelry.
